Netherlands takes first place at European Softball Junior Girls
The Netherlands won the European Softball Championship Junior Girls, which ended last Sunday in Deggendorf Germany. They defeated Italy 4-3, which had all games before. The Dutch took a 4-0 lead and held off an Italian rally in the end to seal the win.
Italy had reached the final through an 8-0 shutout against the Netherlands in the semi-finals. They had to go through the Bronze Medal Game, beating the Czech Republic 9-8 in nine innings, while overcoming a 0-6 deficit. The Czech defeated Russia 10-3 in the second semi-final to finish in third. Host Germany took fifth place.
Greece took the title in the B-Pool, beating Romania 4-2 in the finals. Great Britain finished in third place.
