The Royal Dutch Baseball and Softball Association (KNBSB) announced on its website on Thursday that the Dutch National Team will play a series of games against the Canadian National Team and several spring training teams of Major League Baseball organizations including the Tampa Bay Rays at the end of February/beginning of March next year in St. Petersburg, Florida. Apparently the so-called St. Petersburg International Baseball program also will span out to the summer and autumn months with Australia being another competitor. The matches for the Netherlands will start on February 26th, 2011 and they are supposed to play a total of 15 to 20 games. [Update 10/8: It will be 4-5 games for the Netherlands, while the complete program will have a total schedule of about 20 games.] The Dutch team will work out at the Al Lang Field in St. Petersburg during the spring event.
