Netherlands overcomes big deficit en route to Cadets title
The Netherlands overcame a 0-6 deficit against Russia to take the Cadets European Championship with a 7-6 victory in eight innings. The Russian team scored in every of the first six innings to take a 6-0 lead. But the Dutch scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth and tied the with one out in the seventh. Urving Kemp, who already had a big three-run double in the sixth, delivered the decisive RBI single in the bottom of the eighth.
In the morning the Czech Republic took third place in the tournament with a 4-2 win against Italy. Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Lithuania finished fifth to eighth.
