Netherlands lose again

The Dutch Olympic Baseball Team managed three hits in a 1-4 loss to the Korean pro team Doosan Bears on Tuesday to conclude their trip to South Korea. It was their third defeat in four games there. They will play two more exhibitions against Canada this weekend in China, before the Olympic tournament starts on August 13.

Joohwan Choi brought the Bears a 2-0 lead in the second with a two-run homerun. They added two more runs in the fourth, before Holland scored their lone run in the sixth. Dirk Van’t Klooster, Michael Duursma and Eugene Kingsale had the hits for the Dutch.

Shairon Martis started and allowed four runs (2 ER) on six hits in five innings, striking out one. David Bergman relieved him and closed the game with four one-hit innings, striking out four.
