The former world class pitcher Nancy Evans joins the coaching staff of new Dutch National Softball Team head coach Craig Montvidas. The Royal Dutch Baseball and Softball Federation announced the signing on Thursday in a press release. Evans had a 124-8 record as a pitcher during his playing career for the University of Arizona, was named NCAA player of the year in 1998 and All-American in 1997 and 1998. She also played professionally in the United States and in Italy.
Evans worked as an assistant coach in Glendale under Mike Candrea from 1999 until December 2007, when she resigned to pursue other opportunities. Candrea was the head coach of Team USA at last year’s Summer Olympics in Beijing. Under her guidance the Wildcats won three NCAA titles (2001, 2006, 2007). She also has worked as instructor and created a DVD series about pitching.
