The Euro League Baseball, which is trying to establish the first professional league in European Baseball starting in 2016, has added a third German team to the league roster for 2016. According to a post on the official ELB website League President Wim van den Hurk met with the board of the Munich-Haar Disciples last Saturday.
After the gathering they no longer were only aspirant member, but now were invited to become an active member as of 2016. Originally organizers had hoped to add a second Czech club besides Draci Brno to the league lineup. This spot now goes to the Disciples, which recently got eliminated by the Solingen Alligators in the quarterfinals of the German Baseball-Bundesliga.
Munich-Haar is going to be the third German club in the Euro League Baseball after the Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg and the Bonn Capitals, which both had been announced as members in the last couple of months. Other clubs are T&A San Marino, Templiers Senart, Rouen Huskies, Vaessen Pioniers, Curacao Neptunus Rotterdam, Draci and Unipol Bologna.
Games are supposed to be played as two two-game series from Monday to Thursday. A provisional 2016 schedule is supposedly in the works.
