Right-handed pitcher Mike Bolsenbroek (Netherlands) agreed on a contract with the Philadelphia Phillies organization last week. The 21-year-old was selected in the 42nd round of the amateur draft this June. It was already the third time that he was drafted after being selected twice by the Chicago White Sox, where he didn’t sign.
However it is not clear if he will pitch in the Minor Leagues this summer, as he doesn’t have received an assignment yet. He may or may not finish the season with the German Baseball-Bundesliga club Buchbinder Legionaere. He would certainly help the squad in the postseason, which will start in August. Bolsenbroek has a 4-0 record in 2008 with an ERA of 1.35 and 45 strikeouts (20 walks) in 46.2 innings pitched. Opponents are hitting just .131 against him.
