Mexico narrowly beats Spain

Mexico narrowly defeated Spain 2-1. It was their fourth win and they will finish the event in fourth place.
The Europeans had taken a 1-0 lead in the fourth, when Daniel FIGUEROA scored on a RBI by Marc CARILLO. But Mexico came back. They tied the match in the sixth and scored the go-ahead run in the eighth. Christian PRESICHI scored both runs. Luiz Alfonso GARCIA (3-3) had a RBI.
Mexico’s starter Walter SILVA allowed two hits and two base on balls in three innings. Victor ALVAREZ RAMIREZ received the win, striking out four in three no-hit-innings.
Manuel OLIVERA started his third game of the tournament for Spain. He was charged with six hits, a run and one walk in seven innings. He struck out four. Fernando GUTIERREZ took the loss, despite not giving up a hit.
