Mexico falters again as Taiwan secures second win

Chinese Taipei starts off the tournament with two victories. The host of the Olympic Qualifier defeated Mexico 6-1 and stays on top of the standings. Taiwan scored twice in three different periods. Mexico put just one run on the board after ten on Friday.
The struggle of the Mexican pitchers with starter Pablo ORTEGA (L 0-1) continued. They had allowed 15 runs on 18 hits against Canada and gave up 13 hits and six runs against Chinese Taipei today. ORTEGA gave up ten hits, four runs and a base on balls in 5 1/3 innings.
Chen-Min PENG led the Tawanese offense with three hits and two RBI. Chieh-Ming CHANG and Tai-Shan CHANG drove in the other four runs.
Jesus Cota CADENA had two hits and drove in the run for Mexico.
Chien-Fu YANG allowed one run on five hits and three walks in five innings to receive the win.
