The Melbourne Aces and the Canberra Cavalry split a doubleheader in the Australian Baseball League on Monday. In game one Melbourne pounded the Cavalry 20-3 in seven innings, highlighted by an eight-run rally in the second. Andrew Russell went 4-for-4 with two homeruns, four runs scored and five RBI. Justin Huber and Yoshiyuki Kamei also went deep. Donald Lutz (1-3) had the lone hit for Canberra, a single in the third, and scored a run. Mariekson Gregorius had a walk and drove in a run. In the second game the Cavalry overcame a 0-2 deficit and beat the Aces 3-2 thanks to a two-run double by Andrew Schmidt in the seventh. Melbourne had led since the fifth when Russell hit another homerun and Grant Karlsen singled in a run.
