Max Scherzer is going to miss the 2017 World Baseball Classic due to a stress fracture in the knuckle of his right ring finger. The Washington Nationals announced the injury of the 32-year-old on Monday. He pitched through discomfort since late August of 2016, but the fracture wasn’t discovered until a MRI in December. He was named the National League Cy Young Award winner in November and was scheduled to play for Team USA in the WBC.
