Telemarket Rimini has signed the right-handed pitcher Mauro Schiavoni for the upcoming season in the Italian Baseball League. The 23-year-old is coming from T&A San Marino, where he had a 2-2 record with an ERA of 1.99 in 16 games last year. He struck out 33 in 31 2/3 innings, walking 19.
Born in Salta, Argentina, Schiavoni came to Italy in 2003, joining Codogno and the Junior National Team of Italy. He debuted in the Serie A1 in 2006 with Parma. One year later he was signed by the Cincinnati Reds organization as a catcher, but converted to pitching in 2008 with the Minnesota Twins Gulf Coast League affiliate.
