Baseball.it reports on Tuesday that Italian Baseball League champion Fortitudo Bologna has signed the 19-year-old catcher/outfielder Mattia Reginato, who comes from the relegated club Palfinger Reggio Emilia. In 2009 he batted .230 (OBP .280/SLG .331) with three homeruns, six doubles, nine runs scored and 21 RBI in 42 games.
Reginato might be joined in Bologna by his Reggio teammate Liviston Santaniello. The infielder also got interest from Montepaschi Grosseto, but now it seems he is close to sign with Fortitudo. Santaniello batted .278 (OBP .384/SLG .331) with two triples, four doubles, 26 runs scored and five RBI in 42 games.
