Mathias Winterrath is taking over as head coach of the Junior National Team in Germany. The 42-year-old succeeds Jesco Veisz, who had to part ways with the German Baseball and Softball Federation (DBV) in January due to financial reasons. Winterrath worked with the Junior National Team as an assistant coach. Until August 2009 he was the head coach of the Baseball-Bundesliga club Bonn Capitals. He remains the responsible coach for the regional baseball program in North Rhine-Westphalia.
