Marco Mazzieri cuts four Players from Italian Roster



After the conclusion of the Italian Baseball Week, where Italy won all five of their games, manager Marco Mazzieri announced that pitchers Sandy Patrone and Valerio Simone, infielder Giovanni Pantaleoni and outfielder Anthony Coromato will not make the final roster for the upcoming European Championship in Germany. Especially Patrone is a surprise cut. He had a 6-3 record and an ERA of 1.99 in 14 starts during the regular season in the Italian Baseball League, starting game three each week for Telemarket Rimini. Italy opens the tournament on Friday afternoon in Stuttgart against Spain.

Final Roster Italy:
Pitchers: Justin Cicatello, Roberto Corradini, Marco Grifantini (all three Cariparma), Carlos Pezzullo, Carlos Richetti, (both Danesi Nettuno), Christopher Cooper, Yovany D’Amico, Riccardo De Santis (all three Montepaschi Grosseto), Christopher Di Roma (Telemarket Rimini), Tiago Da Silva (T&A San Marino), Cody Cillo (UGF Bologna).

Catchers: Simone Albanese (T&A San Marino), Juan Pablo Angrisano (UGF Bologna)

Infielders: Giuseppe Mazzanti (Danesi Nettuno), Jack Santora (Telemarket Rimini), Anthony Granato (T&A San Marino), Juan Carlos Infante, Joseph Mazzuca, Jairo Ramos Gizzi (all three UGF Bologna)
