The German Baseball-Bundesliga club Mannheim Tornados has added South African national teamer Kyle Botha ten days before the start into the 2011 season. The 22-year-old has played for his home country in the 2006 and 2009 World Baseball Classics and various other international baseball tournaments. He was named best catcher at the 2006 World Junior Championship. He is coming from the Bothasig Knights and also is in possession of a British passport. The Tornados plan to use him behind the plate and in the infield according to their press release. Mannheim spent last weekend in Montpellier, France for a preseason tournament. They have five more exhibition games on their schedule, two against the Mainz Athletics (3/23, 3/30) and three against the Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg (3/26 DH, 3/27).
