The Mannheim Tornados have signed 22-year-old right-handed pitcher and utility player Spencer Kuehn for the upcoming season in the German Baseball-Bundesliga. His brother Justin Kuehn is playing for the reigning champion Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg and also competed in the World Baseball Classic Qualifier for Germany in 2012.
According to the press release by Mannheim, Spencer is reaching 90 MPH with his fastball, while batting over .300 at the University of Dubuque in Iowa in the last two years. He is expected to join the Tornados in March.
The record title holder in Germany already introduced a new head coach with Cody R. Puckett, as well as new players with Matteo D’Angelo and Emmanuel Febles. Last weekend the club held its annual assembly and elected a new president with Peter Engelhardt. Additionally Michael Freienstein got confirmed as general manager baseball.
