Baseball Barcelona, the successor of the FC Barcelona, is going to have a new manager going into the 2012 season. Jorge Miqueleiz, a former player of the team who retired two years ago, is going to be the new skipper. He follows Aldo Tarife at the helm. Carlos Rymer and Josep Juaneda also will be part of the coaching staff.
We already reported about the acquisitions of Eric Segura, Abel Jimenez, Kevin Malone and Daniel Cepin. No longer part of the team are Emmanuel Febles, Oscar Angulo, Jose Luis Salazar, Ricardo Hernandez, Jason Friedman, Rafael Llames, Cole Yanco Rancoll, Felix Isasi, Sebastian Tesouro and Jose Carreras.
Miqueleiz gave a short interview to the blog of the Catalan Baseball and Softball Federation. He mentions winning the Copa del Rey and qualification for the playoffs as goals for the upcoming season in the Spanish Division de Honor. Baseball Barcelona is entering as defending champion and is also representing Spain in the European Cup.
