The Dutch Major League team of Almere’90 Magpies will see a renewed roster in next years season. They will lose nine players. To replace them, the organization mostly relies on their prospect pool. However there are also going to be four new faces from outside Almere’90. Another change will be made on the manager position. Ritchie DAAL resigned and former skipper Marco WELS.
Former major leaguer outfielder Eugene KINGSALE (.190, 11 Runs, 1 RBI in 2007) is going to DOOR Neptunus. Three players, outfielder Bryan ENGELHARDT (.250, 17 Runs, 20 RBI), pitcher Cliff FOSTER (0-2, 9 IP, ERA 12.00) and pitcher Nick VELTKAMP (3-5, 71.1 IP, ERA 3.41), signed contracts for Dutch champion Corendon Kinheim. Infielders Randy (.245, 3 HR, 15 Runs, 21 RBI) and Ricky DAAL (.224, 11 Runs, 10 RBI) are in talks for contracts at HCAW. Utility man Derrick FRANCISCA (.331, 2 HR, 23 Runs, 17 RBI) is leaving for the Amsterdam Pirates. Pitcher Erik REMMERSWAAL (3-7, 60 IP, ERA 3.45) wants to play for ADO. Catcher Jeffrey DE VRIEZE (.119, 7 Runs, 1 RBI) chooses Konica Minolta Pioniers as his new team.
The Magpies signed two players of HCAW. Pitcher Sten VAN DEN BEDEM (0-3, 12.2 IP, 11.37 ERA) and his battery mate catcher Stefan HOOGEWERFF (.154, 5 Runs, 3 RBI) get contracts for the major league team. Pitcher Roland SCHOLS (TIW-Survivors) is returning to his former team. Gianni BENITO (did not play in 2007) is the last new player for now.
