The convincing playoff win by the Southampton Mustangs over the London Capitals on 21 August ensured that the South Coast team will face off against the London Mets for the National Championship in a best-of-three series on the weekend of 27-28 August at Farnham Park.
The match-up is a repeat of last year’s final, in which the Mets beat the Mustangs in two straight games.
The first game is scheduled for 3:00 pm on Saturday 27 August, with the second game to be played 12:45 pm on Sunday and the third game (if needed) at 3:00 p.m.
Games in the Triple-A National Championship will take place around the NBL fixtures.
TOP TWO TEAMS
The match-up between the Mets and the Mustangs is what most people expected going into the season, as both teams have mustered very strong squads.
While the Mets led the NBL table for much of the summer, Southampton was never very far behind, and the final margin between the teams was only a single game as the Mets finished the season 26-2 and the Mustangs 25-3.
So the finals look set to be a fascinating encounter, and arguably closer than when the two teams met at the same stage last season.
