WIL LOOKS TO CONTINUE HOT STREAK AGAINST CARDINALS
The Devils (5-11) play host to the second place Bern Cardinals (10-2) Sunday in Wil. The Devils, currently riding a three-game winning streak (all against the Reussbuehl Eagles), hope to continue their winning way. They are led by surprise ace Roger Salvodelli, who last time out allowed a mere two runs to the powerhouse from Bern. The Cardinals, who handed the Therwil Flyers their first loss in their last twelve games, will have Chris Beyeler back and ready to pitch after a long layoff with a sickness. Tobias Imboden will hope to repeat his performance from last week, picking up the slack for still injured Severin Fries (hamstring). The Cards just have too much for the Devils to overcome, in particular pitching. The Devils will once again struggle to score, having only crossed the plate once in the double header from three weeks ago. Cards win two..
FROGS AND FLYERS PLAY IN SISSACH
The Therwil Flyers (12-1), having lost for only the second time all season last week in Bern, will try to stay a game and a half ahead of the surging Cardinals. The Frogs have been playing much better in the first game this season. Danny Traina, who has pitched well recently, will do his best to salvage a split for his team. After the Flyers only other loss of the season, the first place team responded by winning their next eleven games, a streak that is still alive, and should be after this weekend! Flyers go home with a sweep…
INDIANS AND EAGLES TRY TO PLAY BASEBALL THIS WEEKEND
The last time these two teams hooked up, there was more talk about how teams should behave on the field, and less about the games themselves. The Indians are looking to fix a tarnished reputation in the league after a long layoff. With inappropriate conduct happening in nearly every double header of the season, it’s time for the Lausanne team to realize they should just play baseball. They are a very talented team, but talent alone does not achieve success. The Eagles on the other hand find themselves in unfamiliar territory…last place! The perennial playoff team, having struggled with injuries in recent weeks, has truly felt the affect of not having a foreign influence on the mound. I think if nothing else, the Eagles would be happy for two games with no drama. It doesn’t look good for them unless their injured players have healed. Indians win two…if they don’t self-destruct.
