The L&D AMSTERDAM PIRATES smell upset after the second victory in the second game of the Holland Series. They stunned the defending champion CORENDON KINHEIM in Haarlem 6-3 and now need just one more win to clinch the championship. Game three of the best-of-five series is scheduled for tomorrow evening, once again in Haarlem.
After four postponements since last Thursday, both teams finally got to play a game at the Pim Mulier Stadium. AMSTERDAM started strong, taking a 2-0 lead in the first and extended the gap afterwards. KINHEIM tried to come back, but never got closer than in the second, when Vince Rooi’s solo homerun cut the deficit in a half. Tjerk Smeets also homered for CORENDON, which trailed 1-4 and 3-5 during the course of the match. Ryan Murphy’s solo shot for the PIRATES in the ninth sealed the 6-3 victory.
