The Austrian Baseball Federation (ABF) announced this week that they have a new head coach for their Women’s Softball National Team. The 43-year-old New Zealand native Lawrence Allen is taking over the head coach position and will coach the team this year with the highlight being the European Championship in Bollate, Italy. Allen is also going to work with the clubs in Austrian Softball as part of a development program. He has coached the Serbian and Czech National Teams in the past. In New Zealand he was hitting coach for the men’s national team. Marcel Kratochvil meanwhile will coach the newly founded Junior Women’s Softball Program in Austria.
