The 60-year-old Californian Larry Olenberger is the new manager of Telemarket Rimini according to a report by Baseball.it. He is succeeding interim manager Mike Romano, who had taken over last summer after Mauro Mazzotti had resigned. After ending his active career in the early 1980ies Olenberger began his coaching career with college teams before entering the professional baseball circuit. Since then he has worked in several independent leagues throughout the United States.
Rimini got in contact with Olenberger thanks to the help of former New York Mets general manager Omar Minaya and Jim Mansilla. He is going to be the first American manager of the Pirates since David Hall had this post in 1995. The rest of the coaching staff will consist of Mike Romano, Chris Catanoso, Paolo Siroli and Andrea Palumbo. His son Kasey Olenberger has pitched for Parma in the Italian Baseball League and for the Italian National Team.
