Kotlarka Prague

After 19 years with champions from Brno, Kotlarka Prague broke the streak and won the Championship in the Czech Extraleague. They defeated defending champion Draci Brno 3-1 in the decisive fifth match of the final series on Sunday to claim first place. Jan Novak struck out eight batters in a complete game win, allowing just five hits, a run and three walks. Mitchell Nilsson highlighted a three-run second inning with a two-run home run.

After splitting the first two games last weekend, Kotlarka and Draci also shared wins in a doubleheader on Saturday in the Czech capital sending the series back to Brno for Sunday. Draci won game three 7-2, as Michal Sobotka went the distance and Martin Schneider drove in three. Marek Minarik then issued just three hits in a 3-0 shutout for Kotlarka. Both teams had dominated during the regular season with Draci securing first place. After a bye in week one of the playoffs Kotlarka eliminated Arrows Ostrava in the first semi-final, while Brno beat Technika Brno in the second.
