The New York Mets announced its selections for the Arizona Fall League on Tuesday afternoon. German national team catcher and former Solingen Alligator Kai Gronauer is among the invitees for the prospect league. He will be joined by fellow Mets Robert Carson, Josh Stinson and Jordanny Valdespin.
It is another step forward for Gronauer, who already was invited to Major League spring training in February, was named to the South Atlantic League all-star team and received a mid-summer promotion to the Florida State League (High-A). He is currently batting .333 (OBP .386/SLG .425) with two homeruns, five doubles, 13 runs and 19 RBI in 33 games for Port St. Lucie.
The Mets players will be assigned to the Mesa Solar Sox, which also will feature players from the Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Angels, Philadelphia Phillies and Pittsburgh Pirates. The 2010 season in the AFL start on October 12. With Alex Liddi going to play winter ball in Venezuela, Gronauer most likely will be the lone European player in Arizona this fall.
Max Kepler will be playing in the Twins Fall Instructional League 2010
Thanks for the info.
