On a night where the Braves retired jersey number 31 in honor of future hall of famer Greg Maddux, Jair Jurrjens impressed with six strong innings against the New York Mets. He allowed just two hits and two walks, while striking out one and throwing 53 of his 85 pitches for strikes. He improved to 8-7 with an ERA of 2.77 this year. His offense, which had denied him run support numerous times in the first half of the season, came through on Friday. They scored ten runs in the first five frames en route to an easy 11-0 win. Martin Prado and Brian McCann homered.
