After an injury-plagued season Junior Oberto (picture) impressed in his last start of the year. He pitched eight dominating innings to lead GROSSETO to a 3-0 shutout over BARCELONA in the game for third place at the European Cup Final Four in Spain. Oberto allowed just two hits and three walks, while striking out five.
The MONTEPASCHI offense scored runs in the third, sixth and eighth frame to support their starter. Lorenzo Avagnina went four for four with a double and two RBIs. He drove in the first and third run with RBI singles. Kelly Ramos hit a solo homerun in the sixth. Felix Isasi and Pau Sancho reached base twice for the FC BARCELONA, but couldn’t score.
Remigio Leal pitched six solid innings for the host of the tournament. He gave up six hits, two runs and a base on balls to take the loss.
In the afternoon T&A SAN MARINO is facing DANESI NETTUNO in the finals at the ballpark in Montjuic.
