Right-handed pitcher Jose Escalona of the Italian vice champion Danesi Nettuno got suspended for two years by the National Anti-Doping Tribunal in Italy on Thursday. Due to the ruling he has to sit out until September 18, 2013. He also has to pay €1,440. Escalona was tested positive during the playoffs of the Italian Baseball League. During the regular season he had a 4-7 record with an ERA of 3.49 in 15 games (10 starts). He struck out 59 batters in 59 1/3 innings, walking 27.
