The Godo-Verona North East Knights have added American shortstop Joey Schwartz to the IBL2 roster. The 32-year-old is from Phoenix, Arizona but has an Italian passport. In the past two seasons he played for Goteborg Hajarna in the Swedish Elitserien. In the United States he had played for Eureka and Spoon College. He batted a combined .333 (OBP .450/SLG .404) with 39 runs and 14 RBI through two years and 41 games in Swedish Baseball.
The Italian Baseball League club also confirmed that Andres Garcia Cuesta will return to the technical staff after one year absence. The 55-year-old Cuban probably will serve as hitting coach.
