We reported two weeks ago that Jesus MATOS would leave Fortitudo Bologna to join a Mexican Summer League Club. Now there is a possibility for a return of the premium pitcher. Some sources in Central America indicate that he considers renewing his contract with the Italian team. This development could also be the reason that Bologna did not have made an announcement regarding a replacement for him.
MATOS had agreed in principle to join Vaqueros di Laguna. However they did not made it official until now. There was only an article in a Mexican newspaper reporting the signing. Vaqueros has connections with the Arizona Diamondbacks organization and MATOS had hoped to get a last chance for the big leagues if he impresses their scouts in the Mexican Summer League (similar to Triple A).
The 33-year-old won ten games in the Italian Baseball League in 2007. He had an ERA of 1.77 with 89 K’s in 91.2 innings pitched.
