Japan beat China 10-0 on Tuesday to get win number four and the ticket for the semi-finals on Friday. They took the lead through three runs in the second and blew the score wide open with a six-run sixth to seal the victory due to ten-run rule in seven innings.
Tsuyoshi Nishioka went three-for-three with a homerun and three RBI. Hiroyuki Nakajima and Atsunori Inaba each drove in two. Masahiro Araki and Akihiro Yano scored twice.
Japan also received a brilliant performance by starter Hideaki Wakui (W 2-0), who allowed just two hits in a complete game shutout, striking out six. Nan Wang (L 0-1) gave up three hits, four runs and three walks in two-plus innings to take the loss.
