Alex Liddi, Gregor Halman: Even though Alex Liddi technically is not among the non-roster invitees at the Seattle Mariners spring training camp, he still played in an intra-squad game on Tuesday. He started the game at third base, batting ninth. In the decisive seventh inning of a 5-2 win by the “B” team he singled and scored. Gregory Halman played for the same team, starting in center field. He is on the 40-man roster.
Rick van den Hurk: The Florida Marlins starter Rick van den Hurk is equipped with two new pitches going into the battle for one of the rotation spots. He has added a slider and a sinker to his fastball and curveball according to an article in the Palm Beach Post. Van den Hurk will pitch on Thursday in the Marlins Grapefruit League opener against a split squad of the Nationals. He will take the mound after starter Anibal Sanchez.
