The Atlanta Braves had won 19 of their last 30 games, including the last five in a row, going into an important weekend series with NL East division leader Philadelphia Phillies. Jair Jurrjens got the start on Friday night and was solid in seven innings. He allowed just two runs on five hits and a walk, while striking out six. Chase Utley’s two-run homerun in the fourth was the only blemish. The Phillies ended the winning streak of the Braves in the ninth, when Ryan Howard sent a 2-1-pitch of reliever Rafael Soriano over the center field fence at Turner Field in Atlanta for a 3-2 Philadelphian win. Jurrjens received another no-decision, but moved his ERA back under the 3.00 mark.
