After just one week in the 2010 season Montepaschi Grosseto has made a change. The Italian Baseball League club, which lost two of three against Telemarket Rimini last weekend, is replacing Roberto Camejo with Ivanon Coffie according to Baseball.it.
Born in Willemstad, Curacao the 32-year-old infielder played 23 games in the big leagues for the Baltimore Orioles in 2000. After playing in the 2004 Olympics for the Netherlands he came to the Dutch Hoofdklasse, where he played for Almere and DOOR Neptunus.
In 2009 Coffie signed with Rimini and led the league with ten homeruns. He batted a combined .230 (OBP .373/SLG 448) with 37 runs and 39 RBI in 51 games in the regular season and the playoffs. He is expected to make his debut on Thursday night against Danesi Nettuno.
Camejo struck out four times in his seven at-bats for Montepaschi.
