In a rematch of Saturday’s IBW opener Spain and Italy settled for a 4-4 tie in the afternoon game in Florence. Spain took a 4-0 lead after four innings, but the Squadra Azzurri crawled back and tied the game with a RBI single by Sebastiano Poma in the seventh. Alex Liddi had cut the deficit to a run with a three-run home run in the sixth. Lowuin Sacramento and Rhiner Cruz kept Italy to two hits and three walks through the first five scoreless innings. Eduardo Miliani then gave the lead away. Luca Panerati, Gian Franco Rizzo, Ludovico Coveri and Filippo Crepaldi took the mound for Italy.

The Czech Republic downed Spain 11-0 in their first game at the Italian Baseball Week 2016 in the evening. Five runs in the fifth blew the score open after the Czech took a quick 6-0 lead after four frames. Martin Schneider, Tomas Junec and Jakub Malik had two RBI apiece. Matej Hejma scored three runs. Additionally Radim Chroust, Jan Novak and Jan Tomek kept Spain to two hits and two walks in seven scoreless frames. Ricardo Hernandez, Eric Izquierdo and Jose Cruz pitched for Spain.
