Italian Softball: Results June 7

In the Italian Softball League AMGA LEGNANO stays at the top of the standings with two wins versus MOSCA MACERATA. Second-ranked FIORINI FORLI’s doubleheader against DES CASERTA was postponed and will be made up on June 17. After some a few tough weeks EUROPROMO is getting back on track with shutouts against NUORO. BOLLATE moved two games over .500 for the first time this season after sweeping the twin bill in PARMA.

Ilaria Pino and Kate Judd combined for seven RBI in LEGNANO’s 10-3 in game one against MACERATA. They scored just one run in the second match, but this was enough, as Aimee Murch (W 8-1) walked just two in seven no-hit innings, striking out twelve. Serena Setlemeier (L 2-4) held her ground, but lost her rhythm in the seventh, when she loaded the bases with one out and allowed the game-winning single. She struck out ten.

BOLLATE celebrated two shutouts in PARMA last weekend. Debora Moretto (W 3-3) had a wild day in the first part of the doubleheader with eight walks in seven innings. But she allowed just three hits in seven scoreless frames, while striking out nine. Kelly Hardie (W 6-1) topped this performance in the second match, throwing the second no-hitter of the day. She allowed just three base runner on a walk and two errors. She struck out ten. Like rival LEGNANO, they also scored their lone run in the last period. Valentina Marazzi drove in the game winner with a double.

MUSEO D’ARTE, which had lost 15 of their first 16 games, had no chance against the HORNETS. Laura Gerussi (W 1-1) and Ashley Hamby (W 6-2) gave up just three hits and two walks over the course of twelve innings, while striking out 17 to lead EUROPROMO to two shutouts. Lacy Wood had four RBI on the day. Lauren Roussel scored four runs.
