Out friends at Baseball.it reported on Wednesday that Italian Baseball Series MVP Claudio Liverziani of new Italian Baseball League champion FORTITUDO BOLOGNA was tested positive in a doping test, which was performed on July 25th following the semi-final match against CARIPARMA. The first sample revealed traces of an amphetamine. The Italian Baseball and Softball Federation suspended Liverziani immediately.
Liverziani was batting .355 (.543/.387) during the semi-final round and .571 (.680/.857) in the Italian Series. The veteran left-handed batter had declined an invitation to join the Italian Baseball World Cup team and is on vacation following the celebrations of the championship with BOLOGNA.
