Defending champion UGF Bologna also won game two of the Italian Baseball Series and returns back home with a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. They scored four runs in the last three innings to win 7-3 against Cariparma Parma on Saturday evening. After 2,300 fans in the stands at the Nuevo Cavalli on Friday, 1,720 showed up one day later.
Fortitudo got off to the better start, scoring three runs in the top of the third thanks to a pair of doubles by Eddy Garabito and Jairo Ramos Gizzi. But Parma came back. They cut the deficit to two runs on a Juan Camilo RBI double in the fourth and tied the game through RBI singles by Orlando Munoz and Manuel Gasparri in the sixth.
However Bologna’s offense answered right away and regained the lead in the top of the seventh on a two-run triple by Joe Mazzuca. They added two more runs in the ninth on a pair of squeeze bunts to seal the deal. They now can close out the series at home.
Cody Cillo (BOL) and Roberto Corradini (PAR) received the starting nods from managers Marco Nanni (BOL) and Gilberto Gerali (PAR). Cillo lasted 5 1/3 frames, allowing six hits, three runs (2 ER) and two walks, while striking out four. Corradini issued two hits, three runs and three bb in 2 1/3 innings. Yulman Ribeiro (W 1-0) received the win, Marco Grifantini (L 0-1) the loss.
