Four clubs in the Lombardy and the Piedmont in Italy have founded a new Baseball franchise this week under the name “Expos United”. The presidents of Senago Milano United, Milano 1946, Rajo Rho and Baseball Novara 2000, Mario Colombo, Marco Giulianelli, Clemente Burgazzi and Giovanni Peveroni, signed an agreement for a organization, which hopes to play in the Italian Baseball League as soon as 2011. Milan, Senago and Rho already worked together since last year.
The Expos United, which is named after the Expo in 2015, which is hosted by Milan, has submitted one team for the Serie A championship and two teams for the Serie B championship this year. The Serie A team will play its home games at the ballparks of Senago Milano and Novara as long as the Kennedy Stadium in Milan isn’t ready. Serie B games also would be played in Rho in addition to Senago and Novara.
The franchise already will be transformed into an organization, which meets the needed requirements by the Italian Baseball and Softball Federation for an IBL club.
