Rimini took game three 3-2 over Unipol Bologna on a walk-off hit by Ricardo Bertagnon on Thursday to take a 2-1 lead in the Italian Baseball Series. The best-of-seven series continued in the Pirates ballpark on Friday and Saturday. In game four Fortitudo won a slugfest 12-7. Six runs in the sixth gave them the decisive lead. Guillermo Rodriguez collected five RBI. Alessandro Grimaudo had four hits. Alessandro Vaglio homered for Bologna, Giuseppe Mazzanti, who had four RBI overall, for Rimini.
In game five on Saturday the Pirates rebounded behind a complete game shutout of Roberto Corradini. He issued just six hits in nine innings to pace Rimini to a 4-0 win and a 3-2 lead in the series. All four runs were scored in the bottom of the fifth, when Alexander Romero capped a four-run rally with a three-run home run. Riccardo De Santis conceded seven hits, four runs and a walk in six strong frames.
