In the Italian Baseball League the TV broadcast schedule got underway on Thursday evening with RAI being on hand for the matchup between Novara and Rimini. The Pirates prevailed 7-2, scoring six of the seven runs in the first three frames. Former Major Leaguer Ramon Castro connected for a home run and went 3-for-4 overall. Alexander Romero also had three hits and drove in three. Rolexis Molina was 3-for-4 for Novara.
On the mound Yorman Bazardo picked up the win, issuing seven hits, two runs (1 ER) and two walks in five innings. Once again German national teamer Enorbel Marquez-Ramirez out-shined the starting pitcher. The southpaw allowed just one hit and a walk in four scoreless innings of brilliant relief. Angel Calero surrendered 11 hits, seven runs and two walks in five innings to take the loss.
