The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) revealed on Thursday a timeline from the IOC regarding the addition of new sports to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. It is going to be a longer wait than expected after the Agenda 2020 approval in December.
In April/May 2015 the IOC will announce criteria needed for new sports to be added to the program. In September Tokyo 2020 submits proposals for additional sports events. Afterwards the IOC will decide about the inclusion of new events to the program at the IOC Session in Rio de Janeiro in August of 2016.
