This year an independent amateur baseball league celebrated its inauguration in Italy: the Northwest League. Torino Killball won the first championship by defeating the Savona Mariners in the finals. For the upcoming season the Northwest League is expanding. Registration for interested teams is still open until January 31.
The regular season is scheduled to begin on April 2 and will run until June 26. The Northwest Series to determine the champion will be played on the weekends of July 3 and 10. The All-Star Game is set for June 2. Nine teams already confirmed their participation and will be split into two conferences.
The Northwest League isn’t rivaling the Federal Championship of the Italian Baseball and Softball Federation, but encourages teams to participate in both competitions. It is a low-cost league, which is open to males aged 16 with no constraints on nationality.
