What the European Baseball Coaches Association (EBCA) is in Europe, the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) is in the United States. The ABCA met for the first time in 1945 in New York and has been growing ever since. The ABCA Convention now is the most important gathering and clinic for baseball coaches from round the world. The next convention will be held from January 2 to 5, 2014 at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas.
Many European and International Coaches travel to the United States each year to take part in the ABCA Convention. A highlight for visiting coaches is the International Coaches Reception which will be held on Thursday evening, January 2. Hosted by ABCA and EBCA Board member Tom O’Connell, this event is also an opportunity to share ideas and learn. In the past several years, some of the topics covered have been “Surviving without the Olympics”, “Impact of the World Baseball Classic” and “Long Term Athletic Development”.
This year, Coach O’Connell would like to enlist the help of European Coaches and followers of Mister-Baseball.com to choose the items to put on the agenda at the meeting in Dallas. Ideas will be collected through our website and at the upcoming EBCA Convention in Brussels. If you have an idea, just send us an email (news@mister-baseball.com) or send to Tom O’Connell directly (oconnetj@hotmail.com).
