The semi-final round robin in the Italian Baseball League started on Thursday evening with two games. T&A San Marino edged out ASD Rimini 2-1. Rodney Rodriguez and two relievers kept the Pirates to five hits, a run and two walks. A two-run double by Joe Mazzuca in the fourth made the difference. Alexis Candelario got charged with the loss, conceding five hits, two runs and two walks in seven frames.
In the second game defending champion and regular season winner Unipol Bologna shut out Tommasin Padua 10-0 in eight innings. It was a close game until Fortitudo scored four runs apiece in the seventh and the eighth. Alessandro Grimaudo hit a home run and drove in four. Juan Carlos Infante and Cesar Suarez collected a combined six hits and four RBI. Marquis Fleming struck out nine in seven scoreless three-hit innings. Carlos Quevedo took the loss.
