T&A San Marino and Unipol Bologna have won the rubber matches of their series against Tommasin Padua and ASD Rimini. San Marino prevailed 4-1 over Padua. Three runs in the bottom of the third got them ahead. Justin Berg and two relievers kept Padua to one run in nine innings. Joe Mazzuca drove in two. Yourfrank Lopez got charged with the loss. San Marino improved to 5-4, while Padua dropped to 1-8 in the semi-final round robin.
Meanwhile Bologna defeated Rimini 6-1. A solo home run by Alex Sambucci in the bottom of the second broke an early 1-1 tie. Four runs in the third – three through a three-run shot by Cesar Suarez – added insurance. Claudio Liverziani also homered for Bologna. Giuseppe Mazzanti scored the lone run for Rimini. Raul Rivero pitched seven strong innings for the win. Peter Parise took the loss. Jose Escalona was excellent in relief, striking out six in four one-hit innings for the Pirates.
