Rome, Italy – The IBAF and Local Organizing Committee members from Panama met over the weekend to fine tune the organization of the upcoming 2011 IBAF Baseball World Cup.
With less than 5 months until the opening game, Panama has been working diligently to ensure the IBAF’s strict tournament protocols are adhered to.
The meetings included field updates for Rod Carew Stadium – Panama City, Remon Cantera Stadium – Aguadulce City, Rico Cedeno Stadium – Chitre City and Omar Torrijos H. Stadium – Santiago, with all stadiums progressing and look set to meet the necessary criteria.
Of equal importance in the operation of large-scale tournaments is the logistics behind the tournament, including accommodation, transport, media facilities and accreditation application procedures. The local organizing committee presented detailed reports in reference to these major items, with all procedures and plans meeting pre tournament benchmarks.
The IBAF is planning inspections in July and August onsite to ensure timely progress, and it is also expected further meetings will take place in Lausanne.
