Panama, Panama City – The International Baseball Federation (IBAF) held their second meeting of the executive committee in Panama city, Panama. The city is also the location of the 2011 IBAF Baseball World Cup to be held in the last quarter of 2011.
The meeting allowed President Fraccari and his executive the opportunity to discuss the activities of the organisation and ensure key milestones are being achieved, and that the organisation is on target for a successful year.
Olympic Reinstatement was a key theme, with a report covering the recent success in Asia, with Softball to be included in the 2014 Asian Games as a discipline of baseball. Further activities and plans will be announced through ibaf.org
The Tournament department also tendered reports on the successes of the inaugural 12U IBAF Baseball World Championship from Taipei, Chinese Taipei and updates on the preparations for the 16U IBAF Baseball World Championship and IBAF Baseball World Cup. Both tournaments are on track and meeting all expectations and requirements for a successful tournament.
MP & Silva presented its plans for improved IBAF media activities around all IBAF tournaments and associated activities. The report included plans for TV, website & social media and will allow the IBAF to further develop its brand presence in the international sports arena.
The marketing department reported on the Kenko Agreement, the Official supplier to the IBAF 12U Baseball World Championship and the IBAF 16U Baseball World Championship in 2011tournaments. The agreement is currently governed by a 1 year term, with the possibility for extension to be discussed at end of year
IBAF Commissions were also appointed, including the Athletes Commission, Olympic Reinstatement Commission, Umpires Commission & Women’s Commission. Details will follow through www.ibaf.org.
The executive committee also approved the financial report pertaining to the details of the 2011 budget.
