On Sunday 30.08.09 the Hungarian National team will be travelling to Vienna, Austria to participate in the 2009 Danube Cup. This year’s tournament is organized by the Austrian Baseball and Softball Federation and will be played at the Sportzentrum Spenadlwiesen, home of the Vienna Metrostars.
The Danube Cup is a traditional baseball competition between the Slovakian, the Hungarian and the Austrian Baseball and Softball Federations, that is organized every year.
The schedule of the tournament:
* 10:00hrs Slovakia vs. Austria
* 13:00hrs Hungary vs. Slovakia
* 16:00hrs Austria vs. Hungary
* 18:30hrs Closing Ceremony / Medals
In 2008 the Hungarian team finished in last place with 0W-2L and is hoping to make a much stronger impression this year.
Head coach Ingo Gottwald states: “We have made some substantial changes to the lineup this season. We have rejuvenated our senior team substantially and have integrated some of our most talented junior players. This is our third international competition in 2009 and we are hoping to finish our season with a good performance.”
